This week was a usual hardworking week. Even yesterday I got myself wet in fine cold rain. But, beside this, there were some kind and interesting events also. My godmother came to Oslo together with other five staff of the Hungarian Home Start Association to learn some Norwegian experiences. So she could visit me in my place.
In a pleasure talk, I learned that many Norwegians are indeed kind, open and welcome guests.
and, as I had heard before, in many volunteer there is a lot of social sensitiveness.
My Godmother said Oslo is a glamorous, provincial little town. She didn't think that there is any visible effect of the "many" foreigners. She also told, sososo, so she went home and slept some 20 hours. :-)

Approaching the age of 30
On sunday I'll be exactly 30. My darling going to visit me and my sister, Szilvi and her husband also going to fly here from England by taking a save weekend fly for £0.00 + taxes (!) Not bad! (When will Norwegian Air do save action like this?)
No doubt, I always felt the age of 30 in misterious distance just as the gaduation from university when I attended there.
I can remember my 20th birthday. At that time there existed a catholic community of youth people in Ercsi. There was hearsay that after a person reacing the age of 21 he/she became suddenly 600, in other words very old... :-) This age limit was originaly 18 but becaming more and more of us adult we extended it until 21. It's funny to recollect this now.
With my brother, Geza we used to talk about plans and dreams and - sometimes just for fun, but later constantly- we sum up the talk with the thing "by the age of 30 you'll get it". Yes. Now I'm nearly two years ago on abroad. Beside the lot of experiences and skills I'm getting well off now, I met with Anna, and so somehow I really feel that this ancient prediction has been fullfilled.
Whatever few years ago seemed to be unreachable now is just in my door, what seemed to be impossible is almost reality... I say thank you for all of this!

The most beautiful holiday I've ever had
It's no doubt now I've spent the most beautiful 3 weeks long holiday at home.
The journey back was really wonderful and adventurous. None of the others so far I did was as good as this one. Cracow was wonderful. I'm really happy to having been able to travel there, since I'd never been there before. Truly I'd never been really in Slovakia neither. Of couse the bigest present was the fact that I could explore this all together with Anna.
At home weather was changeable. There was a week when it was 10 degree wharmer in Oslo than in Budapest. We were so lucky having pre-booked apartman on that week in Keszthely, near lake Balaton... :-)
But let's not run so forward!
On 19th of July was the wedding of my youngest sister. That week was about my family for me. Szilvi and her husband came back from England also. We were really happy to be together -even if for a short time- all together. The wedding and the party afterwards was amazing. I did enjoy that really.
Heil for the new-married couple!
The second week was the certain, rainy -you know what kind of- tipical norwegian summer. However for us with Anna even the bad weather was good too. We sow the city, had a trip to Sümeg up to the fort hill. We could use all hours. :-)
The third week was the most "social" one. Full of visitings... and of corse many-many hours together with Anna, since we traveled everywher together.
We were driving all across the contry with joy, and used the motorway vinette very many times.
All in all we can tell that we succeded to fulfill all of our common plan.
My car passed in general mechanican controll. I had changed the exthaus system which ran down during the way back to Hungary, had fixed some part of the car-body, got fixed the whole stearing system and got changed many parts, got new headlight, mirror, etc... That costed all in all about NOK 4700. (Just notice that I've had a general check-out in Norway. The car could have passed here. That costed NOK 3210. And than I had a laser-based correction of the weels for "only" NOK 2750!!!)
I really like that on Hungary the "check out and discuss" means that it should mean. I pay only one working hour and I get a list of the parts that ergenly need to change, whithe prise list and estimated working hours.
Here in Norway it took half a day just to look it through, check it out, and at the end they said everithing was all right, but just to be on the safe side they changed the oil in the engine for that terrible amount of money. They did'nt even realized that the left-side headlight remained english since I'd had an accident there many month ago.
I also liked that restaurances offered reasonable prices and I colud have a fine gulash with noodles. Noodles are almost unknown in England like here in Norway. At least I've never eaten on abroad though I've been eating full norwegian food for half a year.
On the top of all I could paricipate in Ladik Fesztivál in Apostag and I was happy to enjoy the warm Balaton also for as short time as an afternoon.
All in all this summer holiday was great for me. I'm very happy and satisfied.

Public works
I've heard from some guys at one of the MIN (Magyar i Norge) meeting that there is still communism here, in Norway. :-) I don't know myself if there is or isn't but that's fact on Thursday there was a public works day. The Janitor wrote that all household must participate by at least one member in the projects of gardening and painting of the laundry, otherwise must pay a symbolical NOK 500. (There was a labour conscription at the end) I was really interested what this works like. I was a lucky having been finished my work at 3pm on thursday and so beeing able to participate.
To cut the long story short it started at 6pm and the works ended at about 8, so it turned into a grill party afterwards till some 11.30 pm. Works were precisly organised but weren't done so seriously. They were surprised seeing that I took so seriously the meening of work and cutted of the whole length of hedgerow (not more than 15 metres) by myself. :-) However the one on which I wondered was the answer to my question of what about that one squaremetre area in between the fence and tool-house. The answer was "Just leave it there, we'll do it next time."
From the penalties the table were full of very good foods. When everybody was so full hardly beeing able to move a big bowl of stowbery appeared on table and a great portion icecream...
This day was mostly about tenants could meet each other and make friendships. For example I've been living here for 9 month but I didn't know a single person in the house.
I hardly can wait for the next occasion.

Just for fun
This week was a nice autumn week if I look back on it. Full of sunshine and good things, though by the weekend the breeze of depression slided me gently.
On Thursday after the Norskurs a group of thirty students decided to turn the class into a good team. And were else can it happen than around a table of a pub? I was also invited, which made me happy, but unfortunately I was by car, and in addition I had to go home to my guests. Never mind, next time! Apropo beer, I just summed up my outgoings and I figured out that I've spent 1 NOK in every 11 on beer so far.
On Friday I had a nice overtime day again. The levelling in Nesøya extended a lot at the morning so we couldn't take photoes, although the wheather and the place was also beautiful. It is an island that looks amazing. Its coast is full of yacht harbours.
We got back so late that we missed the lunch. By the way, bread and juice have run out...

József Gazda
A few days before I was already worried and organised for everything may be all right by the time they come. I could get matrace, bed-clothing, and so on. Since it was Wednesday when Mr József Gazda and Ms. Iona Bernát arrived to Oslo. They are very well known and beloved people in Transylvania, among "Székely" hungarians. They are about to write a book about Hungarian ethnic minority groups all over the world.
Formally we had spoken on skype, so we knew exactly where and more or less when we werw about to meet. It was a good luck that they were late, for I had a job which I coludn't finish earlier, but so we just could meet and I drove them home. I had to go back for a little while to the Office to bring the pc-job home. They brought a bottle of nice Tokaji furmint wine. We drunk it that day.
They were happy to be able to use the Internet so thay could organise their tour to Finnland and Baltic states. Dear collegue of mine Zoltan poped in for an hour after his norwegian course and they made an interview with him. After he left tey did the same with me as well. Taht was interesting to see that a 71-year-old man is still so fresh and active, travelling, using e-mail, writes books...
They menitoned many interesting experiences from they jurney around the world. They had been a lot of coutries. Mostly they focus on the life of emigrants who live long time ago in the given country or even born in there as secound generation. They're also interested in people who grew up in mixed marriages. They complained that they hardly could organise meetings with Hungarians in Norway. After all thursday they had so many dates and events that they had to refuse somebody. They'd arrived home just a little earlier than me, and when I get home after my norskkurs the funny thing was that the guests let the keyholder in.
They were coming just for a very short visit so they left Friday morning. I think the whole action happened to be better than I expected.
I'm very happy to help them in their cultural mission. I got a dedicated book as a present.
