It was Tuesday when my Norwegian course started.
I was quarter on hour late right at first time since my job extended and I didn't know exactly where to go. By the skin of my teeth I could park my car, and at the end I found the school and the room. I'm really lucky to have a native Norwegian teacher. In addition nearly almost every member of the group is European. Most of them white collar worker and quick on the uptake. As I learned actually it is the fastest course. If I hadn't had learned from the other CD it would be much worse. So I could follow the teacher. It's true she speaks and explains in English many times, though she usually speaks Norwegian. We're learning from the book called På vei. As I learned it was me who had to buy it for myself, so I spent all Wednesday evening looking for it. Finally I found a shop via Internet in a suburban shopping mall which was open til 9pm. It wasn't cheap: 665 crones but it includes a CD as well. Once I was there I was so happy that I bought a warm hooked jumper. Norwegian winter is on the doorstep...
I have to get myself together, but I think it's gonna be good if I get it. At Christmas time I'll spend my 3 weeks holiday back at home as a Norwegian speaker millionaire (at least in Forints). :)

Traffic light party
Once it happened that the Hungarian girls with who we met on Sunday in church have met Andris in the subway and they've mentioned him a party. Than on Thursday they wrote me the details. So on friday I was prepering my fisrt party in Norway all afternoon. Nether did we know the egzact place to go nor even how big party was it. But we did know that people should wear only three colours: red if the person already had a partner, green if single, and yellow for those who didn't know...
I met Andris at Ullevål Sykehus, but we didn't know the way further. We were asking for a little and finally a pizza boy drove us to the Studenthouse. You have to imagine a real block of flat youth hostel, which is hardly any better then a Hungarian one, moreover... We couldn't even find any room at the first floor only the elevator. We learned that the top floor is suitable for parties. We went up. Getting out from the elevator we found a small "penthouse" with huge balkony. At that time there were only some 15-20 people at most. It cleared up that it was a little college party and we should have brought alkohol since they had only coke and chips.
Andras is an exelent dancer and he begun to dance the "Csardas". I gave myself... I could take things easy only when more people begun to move. All in all tha Hungarians started the real party. Norwegians are usually sitting, drinking and talking: that's the party for them. All right, it was an international party. About fifty people were there from different countries from South Africa, Brasil, and even from Australia as well. So English was the "official language".

The party was over at about 1 am. Everybody went away. A group of ten went to another place, to the Spasibar music bar. There wasn't chance to do anything else than drinking and talking because of the crow. On the other hand it was very good not smelling cigaretts. The Hungarian girls ended up in the arms of an Australian and a Dutch guy.
I just got my second salery wich was 10% more, than the last one. I was so happy, that I ordered beers for many people. I also was given a few... At the end I walked home with 4 pint of beers in my head. I could sleep til noon on Saturday. I needed this party; I'm satisfied with the things I've seen, I've done, and I don't mind what I missed or left out!

Getting easier
Now I feel better and better here. This week I almost have all my jobs alone. On Monday the routine measurement at LIDL, yesterday an as-built building measurement and drawing, and then helping a little András and Thrond...
I was about to leave just a few minutes before 4 when Halvor, my boss swooped down upon me and asked if I could go and help them because they couldn't find any fix points at the site, therefore two points should be measured by GPS for them. I went there with pleasure, but as it turned out somebody had changed the transformation files and so the control point was wrong by hundreds of metres. Here, as in Hungary there are three coordinate systems existing at the same time and in use parallel. I wasn't afraid of it, I just measured the points in the two other system as well, just to be on the safe side. At the Office it turned out that I was right 'cause the transformation succeeded and the control point fitted within 2-3 cm. It was amazing being the last person to leave in the evening again... Next morning the coordinates were waiting for my colleagues on the table.
Today Ivar didn't feel very good and left before lunch, so I took his jobs. He had enough energy to prepare the jobs, so he did it nicely. There was three setting out job and a measuring. I was happy for I could do them alone with Stian who assisted me. It's true I had to call Ivar once because I didn't know exactly where the helping-points were.
I think I retrieved my professional self-confidence I gained during the two years working for DigiKom and then I lost a little temporarily because of the new country and the last twelve months.
